File Preparation

1. Bleed Area:

The very edges of the document are called
the bleed area. To prevent an unwanted white border from
showing at the edge of your document, be sure to extend
any background colors or design elements all the way to the
edge.

2. Crop Area:

This is the finished size of the business card.
The actual cut happens close to the trim line, but due to the
mechanical tolerances involved in printing, the actual cut can
happen anywhere from the bleed area to the safe margin.
This is why it is important to keep your text and important
images within the safe margin.

3. Type Safety Margin:

Please remember to keep all important
information, like names, addresses, phone numbers or logos
within the Type safety margin to ensure that they aren’t cut
off when your document is trimmed.

Our downloadable Layout Template File is available.

0.2” bleed must be all around the file.
Bleed is critical in a file. Bleed is extended artwork on all sides of the artwork to allow for cutter variance. Items such as background and design elements should always extend out of the trim margin.
Failing to provide bleed information and crop marks can result in the printed product showing a thin area of white on the edge. If your file does not consist of bleed, it will be rejected by our prepress department and we will request for a new file with bleed. This will result in delaying the turnaround time.
Before sending in your digital files, please review the following specifications. If you are unsure about the specifications please do not hesitate to contact our pre-press department prior to sending your file.

QuarkXpress

Include all fonts & supporting images. Supporting images should be in CMYK colour format. Images should be a at a resolution of 300dpi.

Adobe Illustrator

Save file as an EPS Format, images should be embedded, and fonts should be converted to outlines.
Adobe Photoshop
Your Photoshop files should be flattened and saved as TIF document. Please make sure that your document is in CMYK colour format and at a resolution of at least 300 dpi.

CorelDRAW

Save as a CDR Format. All fonts must be converted to curves

PDF Format

We only accept PDF files that have been saved as a postscript file from your native program first, then "distilled" using Acrobat Distiller using PRESS setting.

Fonts

All fonts used must be supplied. Both printer and screen fonts must be included. Postscript fonts yield industry standard results. Alternatively all fonts can be converted to outlines.

Scanning

All scanned images should be of a professional standard. Scanned images need to be saved at an appropriate resolution of 300 dpi for continuous tone reproduction (photos and/or illustrations). Photos or scans should always be saved as CMYK and saved in tif format .

BLEED:

When we quote a print size, it is for that specific image area, please make bleeds inward (al teat 0.2") unless other wise specified, if you are bleeding outward please include bleed when requesting quote.

COLOURS:

All colours in your document must be CMYK if you use spot colours in your design please convert them to cmyk before saving, duotone images must also be converted to cmyk. Colour is printed to NeedFlyer.com standards, i.e. pleasing colour. Exact colour match not guaranteed. Critical colour requires a colour key or match print. Colour laser copies or other proofs are not considered accurate prepress proofs.

For products such as business cards, we would recommend customers to avoid borders. If the border is too close to the cutline, it may results in the final product to be off-center slightly.

Images and artwork should be 300DPI

There will be problem.  All monitors display colors using RGB colors (red, green, blue). Meanwhile, all printing presses print full-color images using other colors; the CMYK colors (cyan, magenta, yellow and black). The RGB color spectrum is larger than the CMYK color spectrum. As such, it is possible to create colors in RGB that you cannot make in CMYK. These colors are said to be "outside the CMYK color gamut". So if you are working in an photo editing program such as Adobe Photoshop, and are working in RGB mode, you can create colors that look great on your monitor, but are nonetheless impossible to print. This is because before a file can be printed on an offset press it must be converted to CMYK. If your image editing program has a "CMYK Preview" option, you should always work in that mode to allow you to gage the limitations of the CMYK color gamut. Otherwise, you should always work in CMYK mode.

Unless otherwise specified, simply in writing at the time the order was placed, we reserve the right to use any item produced by us for print or display promotion.

If you want an specific area printed in solid black in your artwork, 100% black (K) will not result in as solid as you want, which means the black area need to made by mixing other colors of ink with black ink to produce a much darker, deeper black.   Your CMYK  values should be:

50% Cyan (C)

40% Magenta (M)

40% Yellow (Y)

100% Black (K)
